Over Maxwell
Hi! My name is Max, and I'm a tutor and future primary school teacher from the United States. Prior to leaving the United States, I studied to be a teacher, and at the age of 17 (Most people take the exams in their final year of college at 21 or 22) passed the Massachusetts Teacher Exams for Licensure, as well as completed a 200 hour classroom internship teaching middle school science and geography.
I grew up in and learned to teach in a town with a very high Russian population, and as such have had exposure to TESOL for as long as I've had exposure to schools in general. During my practicum, I worked with students who were near proficient at English, a few years behind, as well as ones who just moved here and had no English at all.
I believe that a strong part of education is building relationships with students, especially when the topic is language, and am skilled in this (being young doesn't hurt with connecting with students either though I'm sure ). I have a passion for teaching, so if your child either has a strong, emerging, or even hiding passion for learning, I'd love to work with your family.

Offering English Language Tutoring for students whom already have a basic knowledge of English (A2 and above).
For younger students, we will be focussing on developing good English language skills based around the University of Wisconsin Madison's TESOL levels, with the end goal of automaticity. The method of instruction will vary based on the student- Before taking a new student, I will have an initial consultation with the parent to talk about their goals for their child, their child's learning styles, interests / disinterests, etc., and send a draft curriculum so you can decide whether or not to employ my services.
For older students, assuming they are already proficient in English language skills, I will work in two dimensions: First, on eliminating / reducing common identifiers of non-native English speakers, especially those specific to native speakers of Dutch, and secondly, on advanced English composition.
English composition skills lessons would entail the development of a writing portfolio over the course of the learning period, during which areas of weakness would be identified and addressed during the tutoring sessions.
