Over Ethan
My name is Ethan Blackburn, and I’m an American composer/performer based in the Netherlands. In 2024, I graduated with my Masters in Composition with an artistic research thesis entitled “theory vs. practice”, which focuses on mimetic frameworks to delineate artistic reasoning through indeterminacy/improvisation. I work professionally as a composer, sound artist, curator, performer, improviser, and researcher.

My lessons can last anywhere between 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on the level and needs of the student. I have proficient knowledge of many Western musical styles (having completed 6 years of schooling in Music + many more years of professional experience), and will apply the best tools and methods that helped build me as an artist. Most importantly, I will encourage open experimentation and ensuring that each student practices ways to find their own voice. Lessons are in piano, music theory, musicianship- at any level.
