Hello, I’m Risa — an experienced native Japanese teacher based in Belgium.
I teach learners from complete beginner to advanced level. I have experience supporting international students learning Japanese at a university in Japan, as well as teaching private lessons to students with different goals and levels.
I enjoy helping students understand not only Japanese grammar, but also how Japanese is used naturally in real conversations. As a language learner myself, I understand how challenging it can be to speak a new language with confidence.
My teaching style is friendly, clear, and goal-focused. I like creating lessons that are well-prepared but also relaxed, so students can feel comfortable asking questions and practicing Japanese.
I can support learners in English, and I also understand the experience of studying foreign languages, which helps me explain Japanese in a way that is clear and easy to follow.

We focus on real communication — not just textbook Japanese or correct grammar, but how Japanese is actually used.
In lessons, we can work on:
• natural conversation and real-life expressions
• clear grammar explanations
• speaking practice and confidence-building
• tone, nuance, and natural Japanese
• beginner foundations such as hiragana, katakana, and basic grammar
• JLPT preparation or professional communication if needed
In the first lesson, we will talk about your goals, check your current level, and try a short activity together. After that, I will suggest a clear learning plan so you know exactly how to improve.
I can explain Japanese in English when needed, so beginners can feel comfortable and supported.
