Over Mar
Hey there, I am Mar! I am an artist and designer with a Bachelor's degree in Illustration, as well as a propedeuse (propaedeutic diploma) in Fine Art - both acquired from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.
I have studied academic drawing from the ages of 10 until 19, in private preparatory schools of Athens, Greece.
I am just now starting my career in art education, ready to begin with a Master's degree of Education in Arts. I am currently volunteering at workshops throughout Rotterdam and exploring all the beautiful ways art knowledge can be passed on.

Through the art-making process, a few delicate procedures overlap. This is why I treat the process of teaching with ambiguity: each individual, according to their own level of skills and the reasons they are interested in art classes in the first place, deserves a personalised approach in order to learn and grow organically.
Being a student not so long ago myself, I realise my pedagogical approach has three (3) set standards when teaching drawing and illustration/comic design:
1) Learning the basics of drawing (line, shape, perspective, proportion, anatomy, shading) and of comic-making (Storytelling & scripting, character design, paneling, page organisation, colouring techniques, lettering & speech bubbles)
2) Always providing space for personal exploration, as well as encouraging material try-outs and playfulness
3) Learning to accept "mistakes" as a crucial part of the process - sometimes they end up not being mistakes after all!
My lessons can be held in English or Greek. They can be online or in person, +-20 km from Rotterdam Center area :-)
