Over Iona
My name is Iona I am passionate about making learning as exciting for my pupils as possible. I am a young, energetic and friendly English and music tutor with 2 years of experience in teaching. I hold a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification qualification, and have taught English all over the world in Hong Kong, Namibia, eSwatini, Italy and also the UK (where I'm from). I also have a Master's degree in International Relations, so especially enjoy working in an international setting- another reason why I love teaching English!
I believe that learning should be a fun and rewarding experience. My teaching philosophy revolves around creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment where my students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and actively participating in the learning process. I tailor my lessons to your specific needs and interests, to make sure that my lessons stay as relevant and engaging as possible!.

English lessons are 1-1.5 hours long, depending on the needs of my pupils.
For my pupils that are still in school, I offer tutoring in line with the Dutch school curriculum and also conversational English to help with fluency and to make learning English fun. My approach is adaptable to the learning styles of my pupils across speaking, reading, writing and listening comprehension. I tailor my lesson plans specifically to the pupil that I am teaching based on their strengths and needs to boost your child's English fluency and confidence.
For adult pupils (18+)
* Personalised Lessons: I design lessons that cater to your unique learning style and goals, whether you're looking to improve your conversational skills, prepare for an exam, or enhance your business English.
* Grammar and Vocabulary: I know that grammar can be tricky, so I make complex grammar rules and vocabulary easy to understand and apply in real-life situations.
* Conversation Practice: I offer conversation practice to boost your speaking skills, helping you communicate confidently in everyday situations and discuss topics that you're interested in- whether that is fashion,
* Exam Preparation: If you're preparing for exams like TOEFL, IELTS, or Cambridge exams, I'll provide you with targeted strategies and practice materials to excel.
* Business English: Whether you need to enhance your professional communication or write compelling business emails, I'll help you master your English skills for the corporate world.
