Over Theodora
Hi, I'm Theodora! I'm originally from Cyprus, where English is very much part of daily life, and I hold a C2 level of English myself. I studied English Language and Literature at the University of Cyprus and completed a Master's in Comparative Literature at the University of Amsterdam, so language, reading, and writing have been at the center of my academic life for years.
Alongside my studies, I've worked as an English teacher, helping students across a wide range of ages and levels build their skills and confidence, and I've also worked as a writer, which keeps my own writing and editing sharp. I've prepared students for Cambridge Starters, Movers, and Flyers, IGCSE, and IELTS (exams I've taken myself, so I know exactly what it involves), and I've also taught complete beginners, including young children learning their very first words in English.
What I care about most is meeting each student where they are, without judgment, whether you're five years old or fifty, just starting out or polishing an advanced level. I'm patient, organized, and genuinely enjoy watching people grow more confident in a language, one lesson at a time. I currently split my time between Utrecht and Amsterdam and look forward to working with you, whatever your goals may be.

My lessons are for anyone who wants to learn or improve their English, at any age and starting from any level: complete beginners, adults returning to the language after years away, young learners just starting out, or students preparing for a specific exam like Cambridge Starters/Movers/Flyers, IGCSE, or IELTS. I typically begin each lesson by checking in on what you've practiced, then focus on whatever you actually need that day, whether that's basic vocabulary and confidence-building, grammar, writing, or exam technique, before finishing with relaxed conversation practice. I put strong emphasis on writing skills, thanks to my background in literature and editing, and I explain grammar patiently and clearly, without assuming prior knowledge. I adjust pace, materials, and tone to each individual, so whether you're picking up your very first English words as an adult or working toward an advanced exam, the lesson is built around you, not a fixed curriculum. Lessons are available online or, where in-person is specifically needed, arrangements can be made around Utrecht and Amsterdam.
