Over Amadeus

Hi, I’m Amadeus - a native German speaker, author, editor, podcast host, and communications expert based in Amsterdam.

For over 20 years, I’ve worked with language to tell stories, exchange ideas, and connect brands with people. I’ve written for publications like VICE Mag, published my own book about Hip-Hop culture and business, held interviews with artists like Usher, Estevan Oriol, or Ed Hardy, and hosted panel discussions across music, fashion, sport, and contemporary culture. My communications career has also involved working with international brands such as adidas, New Balance, Samsung Mobile, Amazon, and LEGO.

What I enjoy most about this work is the conversation: asking thoughtful questions, discovering different perspectives, and finding the words that make an idea click. That’s the experience I bring to our German sessions.

My background is in editorial work and professional communication, and I offer a practical space to develop your German through topics that interest you. You can expect attentive listening, constructive feedback, and room to find your words without feeling rushed.

As a German living in the Netherlands and learning Dutch myself, I also know how different speaking a language can feel from understanding it. My aim is to help you feel more comfortable joining the conversation and bringing your own personality into it.

If you’re curious about culture and ready to put your German into practice, I’d love to meet you.

My sessions start with you: your interests, your goals, and the situations in which you want to feel more confident speaking German.

We’ll work through conversation, using music, articles, podcasts, and topics from fashion, sport, and contemporary culture as starting points. This gives us something worth talking about while practising vocabulary, pronunciation, and natural expression.

A typical session begins with a short catch-up, followed by a topic or material chosen around your interests. You’ll have plenty of time to speak, ask questions, and try new expressions. I’ll offer constructive corrections and explain useful alternatives, then we’ll finish by revisiting key phrases and identifying what to practise next.

As a native German speaker, author, editor, podcast host, and communications expert, I bring over 20 years of editorial experience to our sessions. My work involves asking questions, listening closely, making complex ideas accessible, and helping people communicate clearly. We can also practise professional situations, such as presenting an idea, joining a meeting, or preparing for an interview.

These sessions are designed for intermediate and advanced adult learners who already have a foundation in German and want to develop their fluency and confidence. They’re particularly suited to curious people and those working in creative or communications roles. The focus is practical conversation and expression; formal exam preparation falls outside my offer.
