Over Selen
As a classically trained pianist with a cum laude master’s degree, I focus on students who want to learn proper technique from the start.
I began my piano journey at the age of 6 and was admitted to the conservatory at 9. Studied 17 years long in 3 countries with top teachers.
With 22 years of formal teaching experience and over 10,000 hours of dedicated piano lessons, I emphasize that teaching skills are distinct from artistic skills.
My PhD research led to the development of a scientifically tested beginner’s method, which I have compiled into a book for professional piano teachers.
I have taught students of all levels, helping them excel in music regardless of their background. My lessons are tailored to individual needs, emphasizing proper technique from the start. Beginners can complete foundational skills within approximately 15 lessons and reach an early intermediate level after about 20 lessons.

Teaching has always been my passion. I come from a family of musicians and educators, which has shaped my love for inspiring students and sharing the joy of music.
My lessons are designed for motivated students aged 12 and above who are ready to commit to long-term progress.
For beginners:
You will learn the fundamentals of piano technique and music theory within approximately 20 lessons.
After 40 lessons max, you can expect to play early intermediate pieces confidently. Examples of these pieces can be found on my YouTube channel in the "Early Intermediate Piano Pieces" playlist, which includes 15 videos featuring around 20 curated works.
For advanced students:
I specialize in addressing gaps in technique or theory for those who have learned from non-professional teachers or are self-taught.
I guide the progress towards advanced repertoire (e.g., Beethoven sonatas, Chopin ballades) or creative pursuits like improvisation and composition.
Lessons take place in my private studio on weekdays or Saturdays (starting June 2025 after my maternity leave). I do not offer group lessons or home visits but ensure a focused one-on-one learning environment.
Progress requires dedication: significant improvement typically takes 2–5 years of consistent effort. Some of my students are committed since 10 years. I have also helped professionals for conservatories university entrance exams.
