Over Lois

I'm Lois, a native German speaker, born and raised in Germany but currently living in the Netherlands, who also spent four years living in the UK, where I completed my Bachelor's degree. Living abroad gave me a first-hand understanding of what it's really like to learn and use a second language day-to-day, not just in a classroom, but in everyday life, university, and work.

Before tutoring languages, I taught chemistry to young kids, which taught me how to break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps - a skill I bring into every lesson. But what really drives me isn't the subject itself; it's watching someone grow. There's nothing quite like seeing a student go from hesitant to confident, whether that's nailing a grammar concept they've struggled with or finally holding a full conversation without hesitating.

I bring patience, structure, and genuine enthusiasm to every lesson, and I'm always happy to adjust my approach to fit how you learn best.

Over deze les

I focus on communicative, practical learning — not just memorizing rules, but actually using the language. Lessons are personalized to your pace and goals, blending structured grammar and vocabulary work with real conversation practice. I believe confidence grows alongside skill, so expect a patient, encouraging approach throughout.

I work with both high school students (homework help, exam prep, building strong foundations) and adults (conversational fluency, TOEFL/IELTS prep, professional or personal development).

Every lesson follows a simple rhythm to keep things focused and effective:

Warm-up: A quick check-in or casual conversation to settle in
Core focus: Grammar, vocabulary, or targeted skill-building based on your goals
Applied practice: Putting what we just learned into real conversation or exercises
Wrap-up: Quick recap, feedback, and a clear focus for next time

This structure keeps lessons consistent while staying flexible enough to adjust to what you need most.
