Over Clare
I’m Clare, a native speaker of English from the United States with five years of experience teaching English as a foreign language at secondary schools, university, and in private lessons. I also have over a decade of experience in tutoring all sorts of subjects to kids and adults. I am passionate about teaching and about language itself—how it works, how it shapes our lives, and how we can best learn and employ it. That is why I have conducted research in linguistics, why I have learned multiple foreign languages myself, and why I choose to work with people on improving their language skills.
My credentials:
- CELTA - Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Cambridge English
- Research Master’s in Linguistics cum laude from the University of Amsterdam
- Bachelor’s in Comparative Literature and Society (French & Russian) summa cum laude from Columbia University in the City of New York
- C2 certification in French (DALF: diplôme approfondi de langue française)
I love to travel and have lived in four different countries. Besides English, I speak fluent French, conversational Russian, and intermediate Dutch.
