My name is Kate, I am South African Dutch, but was born and lived in Malaysia until I was 17. As a native English speaker, I have an inherent understanding of the language and its nuances. My friendly and approachable demeanour allows me to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and put them at ease during conversations. I am dedicated to my work and strive to create a comfortable yet challenging environment where participants feel encouraged to practice their English skills. Furthermore, I hold a Level 5 TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate, which equips me with the necessary pedagogical techniques to facilitate effective language learning. In my role as a tutor, I bring experience and a flexible teaching approach that caters to the unique needs and learning styles of each individual. My qualifications include a Level 5 TEFL certificate from The TEFL Academy, which has equipped me with the skills to listen attentively to students' specific requirements and adapt my lessons accordingly. I aim to make students feel comfortable and excited in lessons - this could be through focusing the lessons on topics of interest to the student, for example. My commitment to professionalism is also evident in the lessons, where a diverse range of teaching resources such as worksheets, games, and visual aids are utilised to enhance the learning process. Having lived and studied in international settings my whole life, I understand the importance of fostering a dynamic and inclusive atmosphere for learning. With 7 years of childcare experience, I not only possess excellent communication skills but also an open and personable demeanor, promoting a positive learning environment. With my TEFL certification, my primary focus centers on providing effective English as a foreign language instruction. The lessons last from 1 to 2 hours, depending on the student and their needs.
