Over Asmita
I'm currently a Master's student at TU Delft, exploring Quantum Information Science, and recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. I discovered my inclination towards teaching while teaching at a student association during my Bachelor's. I enjoy the process of finding ways to convey a topic clearly to someone else, and find that teaching also helps strengthen my own understanding.

For me, teaching a subject like Mathematics or Computer Science is most successful when the student reaches the point where they feel that they could have come up with the solution themselves.
I don't want learning to be about memorising a formula or following a set of steps without understanding them. I try to explain the reasoning behind an idea: What problem were we originally trying to solve? What approaches might we try first? Why don't they work, or why are they not good enough? What observation or line of reasoning leads us towards the approach we use today?
I also like connecting different topics wherever possible. A concept tends to become much easier to remember when you understand how it fits into the bigger picture and why it is related to things you have already learned.
In a typical lesson, I would first understand what the student knows and where they are getting stuck. From there, we work through the underlying ideas before applying them to problems. I encourage the student to reason through the problem themselves rather than immediately giving them the answer, using hints and questions to guide them when necessary.
My aim is that by the end of a topic, the student isn't just thinking "I know how to solve this," but "I understand why this is the way to solve it."
