Hello! My name is Sofija and I've been working in education for the last five years. I have two degrees in English Literature, including a Master's, and my past experience includes writing tutoring, college counseling, and curriculum development.
I'm currently finishing my CELTA qualification, which is a practical teaching course that will give me even more experience, especially in classroom settings.
While I'm a native-level English speaker, my first language was actually Russian. I have exposure to many languages through my work and I'm happy to do custom research depending on your background. Together, we can find the best way to approach your needs, skills, and difficulties.

I offer customized lesson plans depending on what you need. I specialize in Academic and Business English, focusing on developing fluency according to need. I have years of explicit experience as a writing tutor in particular, and can help with functional language like setting up work emails or presentations; I can also help with research and academic writing.
I follow the CELTA approach and will finish that qualification within the next few months. This means we will focus on communication and fluency, as well as working directly with texts you might use in daily life or in the workspace. As a curriculum designer, I can follow materials you already have or develop some tailored to your needs.
A typical lesson might include emphasis on grammar, vocabulary, functional language, or skills like reading and listening. We will go through the materials together (you are welcome to bring your own), then analyze which parts you're struggling with and clarify them. Finally, we might work on something in your daily life that's coming up, like practicing interviews or looking through a part of your paper together.
I speak Russian fluently and have a decent understanding of Mandarin and Japanese, so we can also work on understanding the differences between those structures and English if any of them are your first langauge.
