Over Rachel
Hi there! My name is Rachel, I am a 28-year-old Canadian singer, currently based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. After completing my bachelor's degree in Music, (specialized in vocal performance) at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal in Canada, I moved to Europe to complete my Master's degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where I have been living for the last five years. I love it here! :)
Why do I sing? Well, let's put it this way: I sang before I could even speak. Singing, music in general, is essential in my day-to-day life. Since the age of 6, I have been training in singing and piano, and performing on stage. I am a true artist at heart, a music geek! Side note: I trained as a ballerina for 16 years, which really taught me a lot about posture, breathing, and support. This has been very helpful for me as a singer and performer, and I always love to share my experience, tips and knowledge with my students.
For me, teaching is one of the greatest pleasures in the world. Why? Simply because it is so incredibly inspiring to be part of someone’s growth. But teaching singing is something of its own, it's even more special. Every voice is unique, not one voice sounds the same, each voice has its own qualities (and weaknesses...) and that's what makes it such a special instrument. Whether you are singing for the first time or preparing for the stage, helping you discover and shape your voice is truly fulfilling for both you and me. By connecting with your voice and gaining more confidence in your performances, you'll eventually discover a part of yourself you never knew existed. That's the beauty of the voice! It is our own identity, our own little treasure, and when unleashed, it can do wonders.
Whether you are looking to develop your vocal skills, or learn to sing from scratch, I am here for you. My lessons are tailored for all levels and all ages, and offer a supportive environment where we focus on developing your vocal technique, musicality, and confidence.

My lessons are tailored for all levels and all ages, and are designed to help you improve your vocal skills and boost your confidence. No matter the style, we focus on developing your vocal technique, musicality, and confidence, through breathing and vocal technique exercises, warm ups and repertoire work. I will provide professional tips for performance and practice, as well as valuable feedback, making sure we set realistic short-term goals to help you develop a strong and healthy voice. All of this, in a supportive and encouraging environment! Whether you are looking to develop your vocal skills, or learn to sing from scratch, I am here for you. Please note that the lessons are given in English or French.
Here is what your singing lesson would look like:
- Check-in: How are you feeling vocally and mentally? Let's set intentions for the session!
- Breathing and warming-up: Let's wake up the voice and the body with technical exercises which focus on improving your range, breath control, support, tone and developing your musical ear.
- Repertoire: My favourite part! Now is the time to work on some chosen songs (any genre). Let's dive into the interpretation, emotion, and style!
- Performance tips & tricks: Throughout the lesson, I will guide you, and give you helpful tips for expression, stage presence, and confidence.
- Feedback & setting goal(s): At the end of each class, I will provide you with constructive feedback, and we'll set goals for the next class, aka: homework! :) I'll give you tips for what to practice between lessons.

I always like to plan a FREE consultation/try-out lesson before starting the actual lessons, so I can get to know you and your instrument a bit. After this, I can start building a personalized training just for you, to reach your goals and needs. The length of each lesson really depends on what your needs are and your preferences. I can offer 30 min, 45 min or 60 min lessons. You can either tell me what you prefer, and if you don't know, no problem! I can decide this after our first try-out lesson! Sounds good?
