Over Andrew
I've been working as a professional singer for over a decade, performing solo and ensemble work across Europe with groups including the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Cappella Amsterdam, and Dutch National Opera. I trained as a singer at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and before that I studied composition at Birmingham Conservatoire, so I come at music from both the performance and the analytical side.
I've taught singing to a wide range of people over the years, from fellow professionals preparing for auditions to complete beginners finding their voice for the first time. I've also run workshops in schools and care settings, which taught me a lot about meeting people where they are and adapting to very different learning needs. I'm patient, I listen carefully, and I genuinely enjoy helping someone discover what their voice can do.

I build each lesson around what the student actually needs. For some people that's technical groundwork: breath management, support, vocal onset, resonance, navigating the passaggio. For others it's more about style and interpretation, or simply building confidence and finding a healthy, sustainable way to sing.
My own background is in early music and classical repertoire, and that's where I can offer the most as a style coach. But I'm a firm believer that good technique crosses stylistic boundaries. Proper breath support, a well-placed sound, and thoughtful attention to how you start each note will serve you whether you're singing Monteverdi, musical theatre, or something else entirely. I'm always happy to work with singers from other styles on the fundamentals.
Lessons can focus on technique, repertoire, sight-reading, musicianship, or any combination. I'm comfortable working with all ages and levels. If you're not sure what you need, that's fine; we can figure it out together in the first lesson.
