Over YaNan
Hello! I am a native Mandarin speaker from China and currently a PhD researcher living in the Netherlands. I hold a Level 1-B Mandarin Proficiency Certificate, which reflects a high level of standard Mandarin pronunciation.
I have several years of tutoring experience. During my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, I worked as a private tutor and taught students in Chinese, mathematics, and English.
These experiences helped me develop a teaching style that is patient, clear, and well-structured, and I enjoy helping students build confidence step by step while learning a new language.
I enjoy teaching Mandarin because I like seeing people become interested in my native language and culture. It is always rewarding to help learners discover Chinese and gain confidence in using it.
Outside my research and teaching, I enjoy sports and spending time in nature, especially walking in the forest.

I offer personalized Mandarin lessons for learners of different backgrounds and levels. Whether you are a complete beginner or would like to improve your speaking, pronunciation, reading, or overall confidence, lessons will be adapted to your needs and goals.
Lessons can include:
• pinyin, tones, and pronunciation
• beginner Mandarin and daily conversation
• speaking practice and listening support
• reading and writing
• practical expressions and cultural context
My goal is to make Mandarin learning clear, engaging, and manageable. I believe language learning works best when lessons are supportive, well-paced, and tailored to each student.
Lessons can be tailored to your personal learning goals, and personalized study plans are available if needed.
Lessons are available online or in person in Nieuwegein or Utrecht.
The first lesson is free, so we can discuss your goals and find the best learning plan for you.
