Over Sze Ying
Hello! My name is Emily, and I am a classical singer and vocal teacher originally from Hong Kong, currently based in the Netherlands. I have over four years of teaching experience with children and adults in both Hong Kong and the Netherlands, helping students of different ages and abilities build healthy vocal technique and confidence.
Alongside teaching, I actively perform in concerts, recitals, opera productions, and competitions. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Classical Voice in the Netherlands, allowing me to combine professional performance experience with up-to-date vocal pedagogy. I believe that being an active performer helps me better understand the challenges students face and enables me to provide practical, encouraging guidance.
My teaching style is patient, supportive, and personalised. Whether you are singing for enjoyment, preparing for auditions or exams, or hoping to become a more confident performer, I will tailor each lesson to your individual goals. My aim is to help every student develop not only a healthy voice, but also a genuine love for music and performing.
Lessons are available in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and I welcome students of all ages and experience levels.

I believe that singing is more than learning the right notes—it is about building confidence, expressing emotions, and enjoying the process of making music. Every lesson is carefully tailored to your individual goals, learning style, and experience, creating a supportive environment where you can grow at your own pace.
I have over four years of teaching experience in Hong Kong and the Netherlands, working with both children and adults in private lessons and group settings. Throughout my teaching journey, I have learned that the most effective lessons combine solid vocal technique with creativity, confidence, and enjoyment. My goal is not only to help students sing better, but also to help them discover their own artistic voice and develop a lifelong love of music.
My lessons focus on healthy vocal technique, breathing, posture, vocal freedom, musical expression, diction, and performance skills. Depending on your goals, I can also help with stage presence, interpretation, audition preparation, and overcoming performance anxiety. Every lesson is personalised, and I adapt my teaching methods to suit each student's learning style and pace.
A typical lesson begins with breathing and vocal warm-ups, followed by technical exercises designed to improve specific aspects of the voice. We then apply these techniques to songs, exploring musical interpretation, storytelling, and expressive singing. I always provide constructive feedback and practical exercises so students can continue improving between lessons.
I welcome children, teenagers, and adults of all levels, from complete beginners to more experienced singers. Lessons are available in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. My aim is to create a positive, motivating atmosphere where every student feels comfortable exploring their voice, developing confidence, and enjoying every step of their musical journey.
