Over Derowen
While I am passionate about academics, I also have a great love for all types of art, theater, and song/dance! Whether it's creating funny, inspiring voices for each character in the story or drawing descriptive sentences to see how our writing is understood, I hope to remind my students that the joy of learning can be creative. A mastery in my top subject of English (reading/writing) can focus on both the language and the importance of critical thinking, debate, as well as expression.
When not busy with my own studies, I am often walking or playing with my very energetic, adorable Boston Terrier, cooking homemade meals, and tending to my collection of plants. As an all-around people person, I am so excited to meet you and to keep getting to know this new area of the Netherlands during my time here!

I would love to introduce the fun, curious exploration of several subjects to your child (ages around 5 years old through 16 years old). I am a Master's student from the United States at the University of Amsterdam with a Bachelor's in Cultural Anthropology and a GPA of 3.96. I have experience working with students after school for the past 3 years, and as a contracted in-school tutor this past year managing the classroom, as well as creating unique, exciting lesson plans. My goal as a tutor is not only your child's mastery of subjects including English, World History, Early Level Math, and Art/Art History, but to make challenges inviting and a joy to tackle! I enjoy building rapport with my students, checking in about their experience with and feelings about the given subject, and using a variety of methods (visual aids, puzzles, games, etc.) to make sure that my lessons match the way your child learns. I am available for online and in-home tutoring, and can't wait to see what your child discovers!
