Over Gaia
My name is Gaia Tomasso and I come from Forte dei marmi (LU), Italy. I currently live in Leiden, in the Netherlands. My passion for foreign languages and cultures developed when I was a child, because I grew up in a touristic town with plenty of visitors every year which mainly came from Germany, Russia and Arab countries, but also from other parts of the world.
I learned English until high school and continued to use it as a bridge language during the Italian lessons I gave to foreign students in order to pay for my studies. I also enjoyed supporting them to integrating better into Italian society.
It has always fascinated me to know the customs of other countries and to relate to the tourists of the bars where I worked in the summer.
My fascination for teaching italian developed during my interactions with foreign students at my University. I am feeling so motivated thanks to my past experiences in working with them. My aim is and will be to encourage all my students in sharing their own cultures and feel part of a greater community.

I am a friendly and patient teacher and I like to think of my teaching style as being adaptive to the student's needs. Therefore, for our first lesson I usually suggest starting with some short introductions; so I can learn more about your wants and needs; whether it be pronunciation, exam preparation, interview practice, general conversation and so on. From there, we can work together to create a plan that will best suit you and enhance your Italian fluency. Also, in order to adapt lessons to suit your needs, I like to use a variety of learning materials aimed at different ages and abilities.

Perfect! Gaia is enthousiast en gaat gedegen te werk. Ze gaat serieus op iedere vraag in. Vaak zoekt ze nog zaken of begrippen uit en informatie daarover stuurt ze na.
