Over Priyanka
I'm Priyanka, a biologist and writer based in Amsterdam. I studied Biological Sciences at the University of Amsterdam after a Bachelor's in Zoology in India.I love teaching because I don't think anyone ever really stops learning — and I don't think teaching is one-directional. Some of my favourite lessons have started with a student's question, not mine. Students notice things I would have missed and ask things I would never have thought to ask. That back-and-forth, that active exchange of ideas and concepts, is what makes each lesson feel alive to me. I'm not just teaching biology — I'm thinking about it with someone.

Hi, I'm Priyanka. I'm a biologist and writer based in Amsterdam.
I did my Master's in Biological Sciences at the University of Amsterdam, with a research thesis on urban biodiversity — I spent months at ARTIS Zoo and Flevopark studying how animals live in the city. Before that, I did my Bachelor's in Zoology in India, graduating with honours.
My favourite corners of biology are the ones where you can see the story: how a single cell becomes an animal, how a gene passes through generations, how an ecosystem quietly reorganises itself when one species disappears.
Before I started teaching one-on-one, I worked as a Biology Subject Matter Expert for a large online education platform, creating study material and video tutorials for students preparing for national exams. That's where I learned that most students don't struggle because biology is too hard — they struggle because someone lost them at the first step and never went back to check. My whole approach as a tutor is built around that idea. We go slowly. We fill in the gaps. We build up.
Outside of teaching, I'm also a published writer — my first poetry collection came out in 2025, and I'm working on a second book. Writing keeps my explanations clear and my patience long. It also means I can help students who need support with essays, lab reports, and thesis writing, not just the science itself.
I believe biology is one of the most beautiful subjects there is — I know it doesn't always feel that way when you're 16 and trying to memorize the Krebs cycle. My job is to help you get through the difficult moments and find the parts that actually interest you. Both are possible in the same lesson.
