Over Canan
I am currently completing my PhD at Wageningen University & Research, and I have an MSc in Chemical Engineering.
I have been tutoring students for many years, starting during my BSc and MSc studies, and later I also worked as a Teaching Assistant at university. I really enjoy teaching, especially when I can help someone understand a topic better and see that they are becoming more confident with it.
I have always received very positive feedback from my students, especially about being patient, supportive, and explaining things clearly. Seeing their academic progress and better results was also something I found very rewarding and motivating.
I like to keep lessons comfortable and open, so students can easily ask questions or say when something is not clear. I also try to adapt the way I teach depending on the student, because everyone learns differently.

Lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs. If a student needs help understanding a topic, we focus on clear concept explanations. If more practice is needed, the lesson can focus on problem-solving and exercises. In many cases, lessons combine both approaches.
When I identify gaps in a student’s understanding, we can revisit previous topics and strengthen the necessary foundations before moving forward.
For students preparing for exams, lessons can also include exam-focused practice, problem-solving strategies, and useful tips alongside the explanation of key concepts. The overall structure and pace of each lesson are adapted to the student’s goals, level, and learning needs.
