Over Marie
Hello! My name is Marie, and I was born and raised in southern Germany. After graduating high school, I moved to the Netherlands to study Computer Science at the University of Groningen. Along the way, I’ve gained several years of professional experience in software development. In high school, I graduated at the top of my class with the highest possible grade (1.0 in the German grading system).
I’ve also had the opportunity to live and teach in both China and New Zealand. Even during my senior high school years, I started tutoring students in various subjects, including natural sciences (physics, chemistry, and biology) at the secondary school level, as well as computer science and mathematics, even for bachelor’s students.

My goal is to teach my students how to learn effectively! I particularly enjoy teaching math, as many challenges come from abstract concepts that students struggle to grasp. Once that understanding is lost, it can be tough to catch up alone. That’s why I like creating a comfortable learning environment where students feel free to ask even the most unusual questions.
My lessons are generally structured like this:
- A recap of the previous session and addressing any open questions.
- The main lesson, where I present the material.
- Lots of practice! We work through examples together.
- We finish with any final questions and a small homework assignment.
