Over Linda
Hello! My name is Linda, and I am an experienced language teacher with more than 26 years of experience in language education and over 10 years of experience teaching students privately online. I am a native Italian and Italian is one of the languages I teach, and I particularly enjoy helping students discover that Italian can be both enjoyable and practical to learn.
I have an academic background in Linguistics and Modern Languages, holding both a BA and an MA, as well as a TEFL qualification. My extensive experience teaching languages has allowed me to work with students of very different ages, abilities, personalities and objectives. I understand that learning a language is not simply about memorizing vocabulary and grammar rules. It is about gradually becoming comfortable enough to actually use the language.
My teaching approach is therefore practical, communicative and adapted to each individual student. I always take into consideration your current level, your reasons for learning Italian, the areas you find difficult and the type of learner you are. Some students enjoy structured grammar exercises, while others learn much more effectively through conversation, examples and practical situations. I can adapt my lessons accordingly.
I especially enjoy helping students who understand quite a lot of Italian but struggle to speak. Many learners know grammar and vocabulary but become nervous when they have to form sentences spontaneously. During my lessons, you will have plenty of opportunities to speak, make mistakes, receive corrections and gradually develop greater fluency and confidence.
I am patient and supportive, but I also believe that students need clear explanations and constructive feedback in order to progress. I will explain grammar and language structures in a simple and understandable way rather than expecting you to memorize rules without understanding how they work.
Whether you are learning Italian because you love the language and culture, because you travel to Italy regularly, because you are planning to move there, or because you need Italian for work or an examination, I can help you develop the skills you need.

My Italian lessons are completely personalized and can be adapted to beginners, intermediate learners and advanced students. We can start from the very basics or work on more sophisticated aspects of the language if you already have a good level.
For beginners, we can gradually develop the essential foundations of Italian, including pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and everyday expressions. You will learn how to introduce yourself, ask questions, describe people and situations, talk about your daily life, order food, travel, shop, make appointments and communicate in common real-life situations.
For intermediate and advanced students, I place a strong emphasis on conversation, fluency, vocabulary expansion and accuracy. We can discuss a wide variety of subjects, from travel and Italian culture to current events, work, relationships, food, lifestyle, films and everyday life. I will correct your mistakes and help you find more natural and sophisticated ways of expressing yourself.
If your main objective is conversation, we can make speaking the central part of the lesson. You will have the opportunity to speak extensively while I help you improve your grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary and sentence structure. The aim is to help you stop translating everything in your head and start expressing yourself more naturally in Italian.
I also offer Italian for travel and everyday situations. If you are planning a holiday in Italy, moving to Italy or simply want to feel more comfortable communicating with Italian speakers, we can concentrate on practical language that you can immediately use. Lessons can include restaurants, hotels, airports, shopping, transport, social situations, making reservations and communicating with locals.
For students who need Italian for professional or academic purposes, lessons can be adapted to your specific field and objectives. We can work on professional vocabulary, emails, presentations, meetings, interviews and other situations relevant to your work.
I also prepare students for Italian language examinations, including CELI and CILS. Exam preparation can include speaking, writing, reading, listening, grammar, vocabulary, exam techniques, practice tasks and detailed feedback. We can identify your weaker areas and concentrate on the skills that will make the biggest difference to your result.
Whatever your reason for learning Italian, my goal is to make the lessons useful, engaging and relevant to your life. You will not simply study Italian as a collection of grammar rules — you will practise using it.
