Over Maria
I am Maria Palma, an Italian harpist based in The Hague, and I have been playing the harp since I was six. I love to work in many diverse contexts such as orchestras, solo concerts, and chamber music, and I performed in various halls in Italy and in the Netherlands such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, San Carlo Theater in Napoli, the Gaudeamus Festival and the Dutch Harp Festival in Utrecht. I've always been interested in combining many different styles: besides my classical music activities, I have a contemporary music group, a girl band with whom I play jazz/ pop/ fusion music, and in my projects, I love to create connections between music and other art forms such as poetry and visual art.

In my lessons, I like to combine the study of the technique of the harp, with the exploration of the music that the pupil is interested in. The students get to know the instrument step by step, in a progressive journey that always takes into consideration the musical inclinations of the persons, their wishes and goals, and the musical style that they want to learn (classical, pop, folk, ecc.). If the student is open to it, I also like to include improvisation sessions and ear training to create a deeper connection with the instrument and let the students express their creativity. The lessons can be in English and Italian, and the first lesson is free! :)
