Over María
I am a native Spanish speaker who moved to Groningen a year ago to study for a BSc in Applied Physics. Different languages and cultures have always surrounded me. From the age of two, I attended a British school in my hometown, where I studied in English until I was 16. I also took German lessons for six years, which gave me first-hand experience of what it is like to learn a language from scratch.
Spanish is a beautiful and expressive language, but it can also be challenging to master. From its different regional accents and fast-paced conversations to its sometimes complicated grammar, there is always something new to discover. Because I have learned languages myself, I understand that feeling comfortable making mistakes, practising regularly and actually enjoying the language are just as important as learning the rules.
I am a patient and approachable person, and I want my lessons to feel like a space where you can ask questions, make mistakes and gradually become more confident. My goal is to help you feel comfortable using Spanish in real-life situations, whether you are learning it for school, travel, conversation, or simply because you love the language and want to become fluent.

I adapt my lessons to each student’s level, goals and interests. I believe that learning Spanish should be relaxed, practical and enjoyable, with plenty of opportunities to speak and ask questions.
A typical lesson starts with a short review of what we covered previously. We then work on a topic that matches your level and goals. Depending on what you would like to improve, we can practise conversation, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary or reading comprehension. I provide clear and constructive feedback throughout the lesson and explain grammar and language rules in a simple and understandable way. At the end, we briefly review what we have learned and decide what to focus on next.
As a native Spanish speaker, I can help you develop both accurate Spanish and natural, everyday language skills. I also have a C2 level of English, so I can clearly explain Spanish grammar and concepts in English when needed.
My lessons are suitable for beginners to advanced learners and for anyone who wants to improve their Spanish, whether for school, university, travel, conversation or personal interest. No previous knowledge is required.
