Over Kayla Nurul
Hi, I'm Kayla! a 21-year-old Indonesian student currently living and studying in Groningen, Netherlands.
I moved here from Indonesia to pursue my degree in International Business, which has given me a unique perspective on bridging cultures and communicating across languages. Living abroad has deepened my appreciation for how powerful it is to speak someone's language — it opens doors that nothing else can.
Growing up as a native Indonesian, Bahasa Indonesia has always been more than just my mother tongue— it's how I think, feel, and connect with the world. I know the language inside and out, from formal written Indonesian to the casual everyday speech you'll actually hear on the streets of Jakarta or Bali.
Before moving to the Netherlands, I had experience tutoring English to Indonesian students back home, so I understand what it feels like to learn a new language from scratch. That experience taught me to be patient, encouraging, and adaptable — I meet every student where they are, not where I think they should be.
Outside of teaching, I'm someone who loves connecting with people across cultures — which is exactly what drew me to International Business in the first place. I bring that same curiosity and openness into every lesson.
I'm excited to help you discover Bahasa Indonesia :) one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, and in my opinion, one of the most fun to learn. Let's get started!

My lessons are designed for anyone who wants to learn Bahasa Indonesia — whether you're a complete beginner, a Dutch professional working with Indonesian partners, or someone planning to travel or move to Indonesia.
As a native Indonesian from Indonesia itself, I don't just teach the language — I bring the real culture, everyday expressions, and local nuances that textbooks often miss. My background in International Business also means I can tailor lessons toward professional or business contexts if that's what you need.
My teaching style is relaxed and conversational. I believe you learn a language best when you feel comfortable making mistakes, so I keep the atmosphere light and judgment-free. A typical lesson usually starts with a short recap of what we covered before, followed by new vocabulary or grammar concepts introduced through real-life scenarios and conversation practice — not just drilling rules.
Lessons are fully flexible and personalized to your goals. Whether you want to focus on speaking, writing, or understanding Indonesian culture, we build the lesson around you. I also give simple take-home exercises to help things stick between sessions.
Sessions are available online or in person in Groningen, making it easy to fit around your schedule.
