Over Stavros
Stavros Kampouroglou was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1996. In 2017, he graduated with a Diploma in Violin Performance from the Conservatory of Northern Greece, receiving the highest distinction (10/10). He subsequently continued his studies at HKU Utrecht Conservatory under Professor Carla Leurs and completed his Bachelor of Violin Performance at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Zwolle with Professor Annechien van Blom, receiving the highest distinction (Uitmutend) on his final exam. Throughout his artistic development, he has participated in masterclasses and workshops with distinguished musicians including Stephan Picard, Joseph Puglia, Curtis Macomber, Ilona Sie Dhian Ho, Eliot Lawson, Luosha Fang, Tosca Opdam, Angel Stankov, Mikis Michaelides, and Zlatka Zlateva. As a performer, Stavros has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician, concertmaster, and orchestral violinist in Greece and the Netherlands. In 2017, he gave the world premiere performance of *Nostalgie* for violin and piano by the renowned Greek composer Solon Michaelides, in a transcription by Mikis Michaelides. The same year, he served as concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of Northern Greece during the commemorative concert *Maria Callas – 40 Years Since Her Death*, presented in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Concert Hall and the charitable foundation MAZI. From 2017 to 2018, he was a member of the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Thessaloniki, performing works including Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 12 with internationally acclaimed pianist Etsuko Hirose. Since moving to the Netherlands, he has performed extensively with the ArtEZ String Ensemble and the Kypseli Quintet, appearing in venues including TivoliVredenburg, De Doelen Rotterdam, and other leading concert halls. As a soloist with the ArtEZ String Ensemble, he has performed Vivaldi's *Winter* in several concert venues across the Netherlands. Alongside his performing career, Stavros has been an active violin, music theory, and harmony teacher since 2016. He works with students of all ages and backgrounds, combining a strong technical foundation with creativity, musical expression, and ensemble playing. His artistic work reflects a commitment to both high-level performance and inspiring the next generation of musicians.

In my violin class, the lessons typically follow a structured approach to ensure effective learning and skill development. During the lessons, you are going to be guided by me, getting personalised instructions depending on your needs and wishes. My teaching method starts from the fundamentals of violin technique and moves into musical expression and interpretation. We begin with warming up exercises and scales to improve finger dexterity and bow control. These exercises help students to develop a strong foundation of technique and posture.
After the warm-up, I introduce new violin playing techniques to the student, such as vibrato or spiccato, depending on the student's level. These techniques are mostly learned through etudes and performance pieces.I usually introduce new pieces of music to practice, which gradually increase in difficulty as the student progresses. During this process, I always stay focused on refining technique, accuracy, intonation, and musical expression.
Alongside technique and repertoire, my violin class often includes music theory and ear training exercises. Students usually learn to read sheet music, understand key signatures, rhythms, and music terminology. This understanding enhances their ability to interpret and perform music effectively.
In addition to individual practice, my violin classe may include ensemble performances, where students have the opportunity to play alongside their peers. These group activities help students improve their ensemble skills, learn to follow a conductor, and develop a sense of musical collaboration.
Throughout the lessons, students will receive constructive feedback, highlighting areas for improvement and setting goals for future practice. They may also explore different musical styles and genres, expanding their versatility and musical knowledge.

Stavros is a really skilled, patient and understanding teacher. He is really good at making difficult musical concepts look easy. I highly recommend anyone who wants to learn the violin to choose him as their instructor.
Ik weet dat hij goed is in lesgeven, omdat dit onderdeel is van de leermethode en kennisoverdracht aan studenten van een conservatorium voor klassieke muziek. Hij heeft geduld en kennis in wat hij doet, wat hem een competente docent maakt.
Ik weet dat hij van het muziekinstrument houdt dat hij al sinds zijn kindertijd bespeelt en dat hij in vele orkesten heeft gespeeld als solist, als eerste viool en als gewoon lid, wat bewijst dat hij een sociaal persoon is met empathie en een prettige omgang.Stavros is a very nice and friendly guy, I really appreciate our cooperation and everything he was able to teach me. His passion for music is something even a person who is not involved with music can clearly see. I wanted to have a little understanding of music later on in life and people were discouraging me, but he was very supportive and made classes a fun gateway time for me! Always quick with a joke and he knows how to make you feel comfortable and confident in your abilities. Thank you Stavros!
