Over Tiago
Hi! I am Tiago Henriques, a professional Portuguese cellist and teacher based in Den Haag. My musical journey began when I was 9 years old in Portugal.
After completing my professional music high school studies in Lisbon, I moved to the Netherlands to study at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague.
I graduated from my Bachelor's degree with high success, under the guidance of Michel Strauss and Jan-Ype Nota, and I am currently continuing my studies by doing a Master's program.
Alongside my studies and teaching, I also perform with my chamber music groups.

I have been teaching cello lessons to students of all different ages, backgrounds, and skill levels across The Hague, Delft, and Rijswijk. I believe that every student learns differently, which is why every single lesson is fully customized to your unique goals, pace, and musical tastes.
I completed a Minor in Education focusing directly on 'Developing Teenagers' Musical Potential'. Through this, I acquired practical pedagogy skills and psychological tools specifically designed to keep teenagers motivated, engaged, and confident.
Lessons can be taught entirely in English or Portuguese, and I can also speak intermediate Dutch (A2) to help younger students feel comfortable! Complete beginners who do not yet own an instrument are very welcome, I am more than happy to guide and advise you on how to easily rent a cello from a local luthier.
