Over Michelle Audrey
Music has been a part of my life since I was four years old. What started as a childhood passion quickly grew into a lifelong commitment. With over 10 years of experience as a pianist accompanying choirs in church services, I bring both deep musical knowledge and real-world performance experience into every lesson.
I specialize in pop piano and playing by ear—skills I’ve honed through years of listening, improvising, and creating music on the spot. While I am classically trained, my true strength lies in helping students play the music they love, with freedom and expression. I focus on building confidence, creativity, and musical independence.
As a teacher, I’m calm, patient, and encouraging. I adapt to each student’s learning style, pace, and goals—whether that means breaking down complex songs into simple chord patterns or helping you improvise a melody with your own flair. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all lessons; every student’s journey is unique, and I’m here to guide it with care and enthusiasm.

How I work as a teacher – by Michelle Audrey
As a piano teacher, I focus on developing not just technical skills, but also musical confidence and creativity. My approach is flexible and student-centered, tailored to each learner's goals and strengths. I believe in making lessons enjoyable while building strong foundations in both ear training and musical understanding.
Teaching Techniques & Methods
I combine traditional and modern approaches:
- Learning by ear: Many of my students learn to play their favorite pop songs without sheet music, focusing on listening skills and musical intuition.
- Chord-based learning: I teach students how to understand and play chords, enabling them to improvise and accompany songs on their own.
- Improvisation & Creativity: Whether we’re working on a song or creating one, I encourage students to explore their own musical voice.
Classical foundations: For students who wish, I integrate classical techniques to support finger strength, control, and reading skills.
A Typical Lesson Flow
- Warm-up: Light exercises or a short improvisation to get into a musical mindset.
- Review: We revisit what was learned last time, address any challenges, and celebrate progress.
- New Material: This could be a pop song by ear, a chord progression, or a creative improvisation activity.
- Technique & Music Theory (when relevant): Always integrated into playing, never dry or disconnected.
- Cool-down: Reflect, play something fun or familiar, and set goals for the next lesson.
