Over Marco
I have a decade of experience in education both professionally and as a volunteer for programs that serve the community they are based on. I also come from a family of both teachers and musicians. I have been deeply changed by my contact with some wonderful teachers during my studies. They showed me first hand what it means to be a dedicated teacher, and how much good can be done through this profession. I teach music topics following the 2nd Vienna School Tradition.
About my formation: I Studied Solfege, Harmony, Analysis and Piano under the instruction of Prof. Vladislav Soyfer. Analysis with Prof. Semyon Vekshtein. 2nd Vienna School. I also studied cello at the University of Costa Rica under the instruction of Prof. Elena Kharina-Anatolievna. I am Currently doing further studies at the Anton Rubinstein Internationale Musikakademie in Düsseldorf under the instruction of Prof. Lisa Franken. I was a Orchestra of the Americas Academy Fellow, and obtained an Artist Diploma in Performance Leadership (2023). Any questions you may have, I am at your disposition. I believe in individual connection. I have been blessed to have had such amazing teachers. They have shown me the transformative power of a good docent. And have inspired me to strive to do exactly that. I try to meet my students where they are and to understand their needs. I like to tailor my approach and the goals I may have for a lesson to their specific needs. I also include elements of history, philosophy, music, painting, and poetry & literature (from ancient Chinese poems to Shakespeare) in my lessons. I strive to involve my students in all art disciplines so that they can build their own deep and personal understanding of their craft. The teacher’s main duty is to inspire. And as things are, this comes back to the teacher, I have learned and grown so much thanks to my own students.
Art and education is about relationships, becoming aware, listening and seeing intently, and sharing. And never about having the best equipment or the most knowledge or skill. I always encourage a positive learning environment.
