• Tell us when your passion for music began and, specifically, when your love for your instrument began.

  My passion for the piano began when I was just 11 years old. It all started one evening when my parents took me to a classical music concert. I was mesmerized by the pianist on stage, their fingers dancing effortlessly across the keys, creating beautiful melodies that filled the hall. That night, I knew I had to learn to play the piano. Shortly after, my parents surprised me with my very first piano. I remember the excitement and nervousness I felt as I sat down to play for the first time. My fingers stumbled over the keys, but I was determined. I started taking lessons, and with each practice session, my love for the instrument grew. Playing the piano became more than just a hobby; it was a form of expression, a way to communicate emotions that words couldn't capture. I would spend hours practicing, losing myself in the music, and finding joy in every new piece I learned. The piano became my sanctuary, a place where I could escape and be completely myself.

• What music could you listen to endlessly without getting tired of it?

  I could listen to classical piano music endlessly without getting tired of it. The intricate melodies and harmonies always keep me engaged and relaxed.

• Tell us about the most difficult or special lesson you have ever taught!

  One of the most challenging yet rewarding lessons I taught was to a student who had significant performance anxiety. We worked together to gradually build confidence through small, achievable goals and mindfulness techniques. It was very difficult, but in the end, watching his transformation and eventual comfort in performing in public was incredibly special.

• What do you think is the hardest instrument to master and why?

  I believe the trombone is one of the hardest instruments to master. (I tried for 1 year, hahaha!) The trombone's slide mechanism requires precise control to hit the correct notes, and there's no fixed reference point like on a piano or a fretted instrument. Developing a good ear for intonation and perfecting the embouchure for a clear, consistent sound adds to the challenge. It takes a lot of practice and dedication to play the trombone proficiently!

• What do you think are the keys to success (besides the treble and bass clef)?

  The keys to success in music are dedication, patience, consistent practice, and passion for learning. Additionally, having a supportive mentor and being open to feedback are crucial for growth and improvement.

• Name one or more musicians you would like to jam with in a bar at 2 a.m. and tell us why!

  I would love to jam with Paul McCartney at 2 a.m. His musical genius and vast experience across different genres would make for an unforgettable experience. His ability to effortlessly create memorable melodies and his expertise on multiple instruments would be incredibly inspiring. Plus, the stories he could share from his time with The Beatles and beyond would be absolutely fascinating.

• Can you tell us a fun anecdote related to your profession or your own school days (and not necessarily how you celebrated being accepted into the Conservatory)?

  During one of my early recitals, I was so nervous that I started playing the wrong piece! Realizing my mistake, I paused, took a deep breath, and started over. The audience laughed kindly, and it taught me the importance of staying calm under pressure and how to recover from mistakes with grace.

• What makes you a beloved Superprof to all your students? (A little bragging about yourself never hurts, right?)

  My students love my enthusiasm and patience. I make learning fun and engaging by tailoring lessons to their interests and encouraging them to explore their creativity. I also prioritize building a supportive and positive learning environment, which helps them feel confident and motivated!
